Mailing your Wedding Invitations!

Just a quick word about mailing your invitations. There are always those folks who don't RSVP, but do not assume they are just rude - perhaps they never received the invitation.

Yesterday, I received back an Invitation to our ABC Winter Gala that was mailed on October 30, 2008 - and it was returned to sender on March 19, 2009. 4 1/2 months? YIKES!

So give those you have not RSVP'd a quick call, and ask them if they got their invitation, maybe they did - but like this very late return - maybe they didn't.

FAVORS!

So many favors, so little time to search them out? View our complete selection of Kate Aspen favors - our industry partner! Log onto our website at www.uncommoninvites.com, click on the favors icon and shop till you drop! Wedding favors, shower favors, baby and party favors - all there waiting for you.

Incredible selection - fast service - some personalization available - and affordable! It can't get any better than that.

Here is one of my favorite place card holders - we used them for Mardi Gras as they are appropriately called "Bourbon Street". Sold in sets of 4, they come with the card to write the guest names, and the cost is as low as $1.40 per each.

ABC Oregon March Meeting

We were so fortunate to be able to have our meeting hosted in March by the Portland Spirit! This is Portland's premier cruise ship that travels the waterways with a grand piano, a chef and full kitchen and a fabulous staff who spoil you at every turn.

Susan Duyck from Ultraviolet Events planned this meeting along with Cari Goodwin and Courtney Mattson from the Portland Spirit. Susan did a fabulous job coordinating with the vendors, introducing the guest speaker and participating vendors and generally making everyone feel welcome. The General Manager of the Portland Spirit welcomed us aboard as did our Captain and then we made our way out from the dock on the Willamette river for a dinner cruise.

Our Speaker for the evening was Bret Bernhoft whose topic was how to market to Generation "Y". He really got us thinking about our marketing styles, and in our current economy - we have to be able to bring in as many clients as possible.

We had a wonderful meal prepared by the Portland Spirit team and delicious cake for dessert provided by Cake by Taste of Honey and then gently glided back into the dock at 8:30pm, ending a delightful cruise.

Thanks also to Echo Trio who played during the cocktail hour; Melissa Downey from The Wedding Cottage who provided us with favors of wedding mints in cute black/white "Mint to Be" tins; Jacqueline Mandell from Exquisite Weddings; Patty Hoppe from Dazzling Affaires; Travis Shields from Shields Films, and to all of you who attended - making this another great networking event!

ABC NW Regional Conference

Thanks to the amazing team in Washington State who put together our 3rd ABC NW Regional Conference. We were at the Tulalip Resort, north of Seattle in Marysville, Washington. We had a series of good speakers, David Wood - ABC President was in attendance, as well as Elise Enloe our Director of Education. I am telling you all you need to plan a get-a-way with your friends to this incredible resort! It has only been open since last August, the basic guest rooms are 500 sq feet, loaded with amenities with a rack rate of $149.00 per night and FREE valet parking. The staff was amazing, the food was amazing and we all so enjoyed ourselves.

I traveled up with Cindy Rosen of Encore Events and Kerry Garrow of Signature Weddings & Events. Also attending from Oregon were Lisa Taylor, Sweet Dreams Bridal and Events and Sue Corning from Purple Iris Weddings and Events. We all hit the casino, some won - some lost and some said "no comment"!

The room above with the round table seats 18 guests at a black granite table with a HUGE Dale Chihuly chandelier over the table, and a 2800 bottle wine cellar - WOW!

We are going back in August!

Inspired Globally ~ Created Locally ~ Indian

Rich golds, hot pink, amber, and lots of bling set the tone for this Indian styled tablescape, invitation and menu. This table was created by Barclay Event Rentals and Uncommon Invites as a party of our Art of the Table displays at the Bravo Wedding Affair.

Inspired Globally ~ Created Locally ~ Napa

Napa Valley and Oregon's own Wine Country were the inspiration for these designs. Rich greens and burgundy colors add to the dimension of the tablescapes here, and the invitation gives your Guests a visual "heads up" as to the feel of your special event.

Inspired Globally ~ Created Locally ~ Asian

Recently we were inspired to create some new designs to show at the Bravo Wedding Affair. We used the globe to give us direction, and came up with some fabulous new invitations and menus. While your theme might not be Asian, our designs remind you that when you get invitations from Uncommon Invites - you do not have to settle for what you may find in a book.
